The Mindful Online Training Approach To Executive Consultation, Leadership Coaching And Team Building
These multimedia seminars include a variety of tools to enable participants to directly experience the transformative power of working with the mind. Recent extensive scientific research is now able to explain how mindfulness practice changes both the function and the structure of the brain, thereby significantly strengthening executive competence. Numerous studies, using such technologies as FMRI, show which parts of the brain are affected by mindfulness practice, and how these neurobiological changes benefit our ability to function optimally. Furthermore, new discoveries in the field of neurology and brain research have substantiated the effectiveness of Mindfulness Training in relation to daily workplace productivity, collaboration and commitment. Our programs are a secular, scientifically informed, systematic approach to effectively managing the daily challenges and demands of professional life.
Exceptional leaders inspire us. They ignite our commitment, fortify passion for the team mission and build outstanding collaboration. Extraordinary leadership works through emotion. It requires more than just I.Q. or technical expertise. Leaders’ moods and associated actions significantly affect those they lead and therefore how the team performs.
The neural systems responsible for the intellect and for the emotions are separate yet have interwoven links. The brain circuitry that interconnects thought and feeling provide the neural basis for exceptional performance. Most leadership training focuses on the neocortex system of the brain that governs analytical and technical ability, rather than the limbic system of the brain that governs feelings, impulses and instinctual drives. Reeducating the emotional brain for leadership and team effectiveness requires a mindfulness model that strengthens the capacity for emotional: 1-self-awareness, 2-self-regulation, 3-relationship awareness and 4-relationship regulation.
“Neuroscience Based Interoceptive Mindfulness Training” is a journey that goes inward. We redirect our attention from the busy outer world to our subjective inner experience. Mindfulness takes the untrained everyday mind and opens it up, not by trying to change anything but by observing the emotions and thoughts as they appear.
Much of the time, our minds are in a state of unintentional reactivity. We take this for granted and do not question our automatic identifications with our responses. Through this guided, step-by-step Inside-Out approach, we use the breath to create a purposeful pause enabling the separation of instinct driven reactions from the circumstances provoking them. Mindfulness training strengthens the capacity for behavior to align with leadership values. A differentiation becomes created between the observer and that which is being observed. We can have an emotion, know we have that feeling and know that we know. To be at the advanced level of knowing and watching the mind in operation, is a significantly empowering capability. Learning how to harness this advanced level of self-awareness, provides a choice of responding to provocation with wisdom rather then automatically getting caught in the grip of a compelling feeling and reacting.
Through this gradual insight, we learn how to intentionally influence the unintentional mind. This training cultivates the capacity to work with disruptive feelings and effectively redirect them. As leaders, we cannot influence others until we have mastered self-awareness and self-regulation within. Learning that we have thoughts and feelings rather than being had by them, is the path to greater integrity, credibility and eventually more influence.
Mindfulness Training In Application To Team Building
As productive teams face deadlines, there is an unavoidable influence of emotion on behavior and decision-making. Individuals differ in their ability to perceive, appraise, understand, regulate, express and use emotion effectively. The pressure of work often causes unintentional interpersonal conflict resulting in team members reacting negatively toward each other. This lack of mindful attention results in low morale and productivity. Through training, destructive instinct driven behaviors can be recognized, comprehended, and transformed into constructive intentional responses that build relationships and teamwork.
Mindful Human Relations Training is a form of executive coaching where participants learn about themselves and the underlying forces that drive team outcome. Study of interactive dynamics is essential in comprehending how to effectively work together. Learning to manage emotional relational undercurrents is at the core of understanding collaboration, commitment, trust, conflict resolution and problem solving. Intrapersonal and interpersonal mindfulness training is cultivated to strengthen insight into what happens within us, to us and between us, as at successive moments of intentional attentive awareness. How we relate to our thoughts and feelings affect our words and behavior thereby triggering emotional responses in the team. Cultivating the skill of mindfully listening and speaking, significantly improves interpersonal competence, team efficacy, satisfaction, productivity, and perseverance.
